Central Missouri Jennies fall to No. 20 Missouri Western Griffons in four-set home match

Central Missouri Jennies volleyball team lost to the 20th-ranked Missouri Western Griffons in four sets on Friday, Nov. 7, at Dr. Peggy Martin Court inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg. The match ended with scores of 26-24, 26-28, 18-25, and 23-25.

The Jennies trailed set point in the first set at 24-18 but responded with an 8-0 run to win the frame. Middle blocker Rachel Ziesman led that effort with three kills during the run and finished the match with 11 kills and seven blocks. Ziesman recorded six kills on eleven swings for a .455 attack percentage and added four blocks in the opening set.

Missouri Western answered by winning the next three sets to secure their 19th victory of the season. Their performance was highlighted by Katelyn Diani-O'Day’s double-double.

For Central Missouri, redshirt sophomore Emma Siron led all players with 16 kills and nine digs. Shaye Koski added twelve kills and three blocks, while Kaelyn McDonald contributed eleven kills and four blocks. Junior Lauren Blake also notched nine kills, a career-best four blocks, and a personal record of three digs.

On defense, redshirt senior Grace Winkelmann had a match-high 33 digs along with five assists. Ragin Corwin collected a career-high thirteen digs for Central Missouri.

Despite outhitting Missouri Western .169 to .154, the Jennies were unable to convert that advantage into a win. Setter Kayla Baer registered a match-best fifty-two assists along with twelve digs; junior Kirsten Harper chipped in five digs.

Central Missouri will continue its MIAA schedule by hosting Northwest Missouri Bearcats (9-13, 3-10 MIAA) on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Dr. Peggy Martin Court in Warrensburg.
