Kip Janvrin Co-Head Track & Field Coach | University of Central Missouri Athletics
The University of Central Missouri (UCM) Track & Field program has announced that it will honor three former coaches by renaming two of its home meets for the 2025-26 season. The announcement was made on Tuesday, October 28.
The annual Central Missouri Invitational, which takes place during the indoor season at the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center, is scheduled for Friday, January 16. This event will now be known as the Tucker Woolsey Invitational, in recognition of Tucker Woolsey’s contributions as a throws coach over 23 years before his retirement in summer 2025.
For the outdoor season, the Mule Relays will expand to a two-day meet on April 9-10 in Warrensburg and will be renamed the Kirk and Kip Mule Relays. This change honors former Co-Head Track & Field Coaches Kirk Pedersen and Kip Janvrin.
UCM Track & Field Head Coach Kevin Paterson stated: "We couldn't be more excited to have the opportunity to celebrate the incredible history of our programs, and the three amazing coaches that led the Mules and Jennies to incredible success. Tucker, Kirk, and Kip are pillars of not only this program, but the entire UCM community. This is just one way we can honor them, and the countless hours they put in, and the thousands of lives they've touched here at Central Missouri. They created memories that will last a lifetime. Now, we get the chance to honor them every year on the track they loved to coach on."
Kirk Pedersen served as head coach for UCM Cross Country from 1987 until his retirement in June 2025 and was also distance coach for both Mules & Jennies track & field teams during 2024-25. He worked alongside Janvrin as Co-Head Track & Field Coach from 1996 through 2024.
Kip Janvrin was involved with UCM Track & Field since 1988 and served as Co-Head Coach from 1996 until his retirement in August 2024.
Together with Woolsey, both Pedersen and Janvrin helped lead UCM’s Jennies Track & Field Team to win NCAA Division II Indoor and Outdoor National Championships in 2015. They also coached both Mules and Jennies teams to several Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) championships and produced many All-American athletes.
