The University of Central Missouri Mules Football team is preparing to host the No. 5-ranked Pittsburg State Gorillas for its final home game of the 2025 season on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field in Warrensburg, Missouri. The matchup will also serve as Senior Day, with a pregame ceremony honoring the team's senior class.
UCM Athletics has announced that fans can receive discounted general admission tickets by donating specific items to the Johnson County (Mo.) Food Center. More information about eligible items and donation procedures is available on their website.
Central Missouri enters the game with a 4-5 overall record and a 4-3 mark in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) play. The Mules are coming off a narrow 28-24 victory over Fort Hays State on Nov. 1, marking their first win in Hays since 2012.
Through nine games this season, Central Missouri leads the MIAA in total offense and passing offense, averaging 455.8 yards and 307.1 passing yards per game respectively. These figures place them sixth nationally in NCAA Division II for passing yards per game and seventh for total offense.
Wide receiver Hogan Wasson leads all NCAA Division II players with an average of 103.6 receiving yards per game and ranks second in receptions per game at just over eight catches. Quarterback Donovyn Omolo is fifth nationally in completions per game and seventh in total offense.
In recent MIAA statistics, Wasson holds first place for receiving yards per game while Omolo ranks second both in passing and total offense categories within the conference. Kicker Will Peacock stands second among field goal leaders with eleven made kicks this season.
On defense, linebacker Garrett Hormann averages nine tackles per contest—fifth-best in the league—while Malachi Howard ranks third for passes defended with twelve breakups or interceptions combined.
Saturday's meeting will be the sixty-second between Central Missouri and Pittsburg State since their series began in 1916; Pittsburg State currently leads overall but last year UCM defeated then-No.1-ranked Pittsburg State by a score of 37-13.
Reflecting on recent performance, head coach Josh Lamberson’s squad executed a decisive fourth-quarter drive against Fort Hays State capped by Wasson's late touchdown reception from Omolo to secure victory: "Hogan Wasson caught a touchdown pass from Donovyn Omolo with under a minute to go in the fourth quarter to lift the University of Central Missouri Mules Football Team to a thrilling 28-24 comeback victory over the Fort Hays State Tigers on Saturday afternoon," according to team sources.
With last year’s record of nine wins alongside an eleven-win campaign from two seasons ago, UCM has reached twenty victories across two consecutive years for only the second time ever—a notable achievement as they compete through their one hundred twenty-ninth football season since starting play in 1895 (with only one missed year due to World War I).
Seven new coaches joined UCM this season alongside fifty-eight new student-athletes—including thirty-six freshmen—and several transfers bolstering both sides of play.
Central Missouri’s scoring streak continues as well; they have posted points in three hundred fifty-nine straight games dating back to week three of the nineteen ninety-one season—a current MIAA record.
Several former Mules continue professional careers: Zach Zebrowski and Arkell Smith now play for Canada’s Edmonton Elks while David Olajiga is part of the New England Patriots’ practice squad roster; tight end Zach Davidson was drafted by Minnesota Vikings after his college career ended here—one of eighty-one former players who have either been drafted or signed professional contracts throughout program history.
The regular season concludes next week when UCM visits Nebraska Kearney on November fifteenth.
