Central Missouri Mules Football is set to face Fort Hays State University in an away game on Saturday, November 1, at Lewis Field Stadium in Hays, Kansas. The Mules currently hold a 3-5 overall record and are 3-3 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA), while Fort Hays State enters the matchup at 5-4 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
The Mules are aiming to end a three-game losing streak after their recent 31-27 defeat against Emporia State during Central Missouri's Homecoming Game. In that contest, Central Missouri led by ten points entering the fourth quarter but was outscored by Emporia State in the final period. Quarterback Donovyn Omolo completed 20 of 44 passes for 208 yards and one touchdown and also rushed for a team-high 77 yards with one rushing touchdown. Wide receiver Hogan Wasson led receivers with seven catches for 81 yards.
Through eight games this season, Central Missouri leads the MIAA in total offense with an average of 464.8 yards per game, ranking sixth nationally among NCAA Division II teams. The team is also second in passing offense and scoring within the conference. Individually, Hogan Wasson ranks third nationally in receptions per game and seventh in receiving yards per game. Donovyn Omolo stands fourth nationally in completions per game and seventh in total offense.
Defensively, linebacker Garrett Hormann averages over ten tackles per game, while Michael Harris has recorded four sacks this season. Malachi Howard has contributed nine pass breakups and one interception.
The upcoming contest will be broadcast live on multiple radio stations including "Your Country" 98.5 The BAR FM and streamed online through Central Missouri’s MIAA Network portal as a pay-to-view webcast.
This year marks the program’s 129th football season; Central Missouri has played every year since its inception except for a pause during World War I in 1918. Last season, the Mules finished with a record of nine wins and three losses and advanced to postseason play for a second consecutive year, defeating Texas Permian Basin in double overtime at the Heritage Bowl Powered by RIOT.
In addition to returning players, Central Missouri welcomed 58 new student-athletes this season—36 freshmen and 22 transfers—as well as seven new coaches joining the staff.
Central Missouri leads its all-time series against Fort Hays State with eleven wins to nine losses since their first meeting in 1964. Last year’s matchup saw Fort Hays State claim victory over Central Missouri by a score of 31-21.
Looking ahead, Central Missouri will conclude its home schedule on November 8 against Pittsburg State at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field.
