The Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) Auxiliary has announced the recipients of its annual Health Career Scholarships. Six students were each awarded $1,000 to support their studies in healthcare fields.
The scholarships are offered each spring by the WMMC Auxiliary to students pursuing or advancing their education in various healthcare disciplines. Eligible fields include nursing, medical school, physical therapy, wellness, laboratory work, radiology, occupational therapy, cardio-pulmonary services, pharmacy, and nutrition. Recipients are chosen based on financial need, academic performance, career plans, and a demonstrated commitment to healthcare careers.
This year's scholarship recipients are Maggie Rankin, Anna Lack, Kameron Dankenbring, John Wu, Brooklyn Fleming, and Jillian Voskovitch. Rankin is pursuing a Master's in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Central Missouri. Lack aims for a Bachelor of Science in Biology (Pre-Medicine) at the same university and plans to earn a Master of Science in Anesthesia from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Dankenbring is working towards an Associate of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology at State Fair Community College with future specialization plans at the University of Missouri; his scholarship was donated by Virginia Campbell in memory of Harold Campbell.
Wu recently graduated from Warrensburg High School and will attend the University of Missouri-Kansas City's combined Bachelor of Art and Doctor of Medicine program. Fleming is a Crest Ridge High School graduate planning to pursue a Doctorate in Nurse Anesthesia. Voskovitch is currently an MD student at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Funding for these scholarships comes primarily from sales at the Wishing Well Gift Shop and donations to the Auxiliary's scholarship fund. The gift shop operates Monday through Saturday with varying hours.
The WMMC Auxiliary continues its commitment to supporting aspiring healthcare professionals amid rising educational costs and increasing demand for healthcare workers. Contributions for their Health Career Scholarship Fund can be sent to 403 Burkarth Road in Warrensburg.
