Supporters of the Fitzgibbon Hospital Foundation are set to experience a new format for the annual Fling Gala on Friday, April 4. Traditionally a plated dinner with live and silent auctions, this year's event has been reimagined as The Fling Casino Night. Proceeds will be directed towards purchasing a new endoscope that promises to significantly reduce procedure times for colonoscopies and endoscopies, addressing growing needs in cancer screening.
Andrea Barr, Foundation Coordinator at Fitzgibbon Hospital, explained the changes: “The Fling looks a lot different this year because we are transitioning from a plated dinner to more of an interactive scene. It will be casino night.” She added that a Kansas City company would run professional casino games from 6 to 9 p.m., allowing attendees to trade play money for raffle tickets to win prizes at the night's conclusion.
In addition to casino games, guests can enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres and desserts throughout the evening. The silent auction opens online on March 31, enabling remote participation before the event. Attendees can register early via QR code or through the Fitzgibbon Hospital Foundation's Facebook page.
Another feature is the Wine and Whiskey Grab, where participants pay for chances to win bottles valued higher than their entry fee. “We're also adding a 50-50 raffle this year so people will be able to buy tickets and, at the end of the night, a winner will be drawn and they will receive half the pot of whatever we raise,” said Barr.
Tickets are priced at $75 each and can be purchased by contacting Andrea Barr or visiting the foundation's Facebook page. The event runs from 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Jackson’s Event Center in Marshall.
