The Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) Foundation successfully held its seventh-annual fundraising gala, Fire & Ice: Mardi Gras, on January 24, 2025. The event took place at the UCM Ballroom in Warrensburg, Missouri, attracting 335 guests and raising nearly $75,000 for WMMC's initiative "Empower Through Early Detection." This project aims to improve access to diagnostic technology for the community.

With support from 22 sponsors, the event received $37,000 in sponsorships. Attendees enjoyed casino games, auctions, raffles, and catering by Morrison’s Healthcare. Carmen Mallery, Co-Chair of the Special Events Committee, remarked on the community's support: “It is so wonderful to see our community come together for such a great cause and embracing this elegant annual event.”

Jan Glover, WMMC Foundation Board President, expressed satisfaction with the event: “Fire & Ice: Mardi Gras was a fun and festive event with thematic food and decor fully embraced by our costume-clad partygoers! It was an inspiring auction environment in which to raise funds for WMMC Foundation.”

The gala included new features like a venue change to accommodate more guests and a silent auction. Pillar Society donors were recognized for completing their initial pledges. Tara Carlyle from WMMC noted the positive reception of these changes: “This year we introduced many new features... Each year our goal is to create an event that is fresh, exciting, and impactful.”

Brown’s Medical Imaging led as Premiere Sponsor at the $10,000 level. Other sponsors included American Water and Cintas among others. Darinda Dick, President/CEO of WMMC stated: “Fire & Ice: Mardi Gras not only delivered an extraordinary evening of entertainment uniting our community but also reinforced the hospital’s mission...”

The WMMC Foundation supports healthcare initiatives through philanthropy and awareness efforts.
