Central Missouri Jennies volleyball wins against Pittsburg State for sixth straight victory

The Central Missouri Jennies volleyball team, ranked No. 24 nationally, secured a 3-1 victory over the Pittsburg State Gorillas on Friday, October 10, at John Lance Arena in Pittsburg, Kansas. The match scores were 25-19, 25-19, 20-25, and 25-23.

Lauren Blake led the Jennies with a career-high 15 kills on 28 attempts and posted a .500 attack percentage. She also contributed three blocks and two digs. Rachel Ziesman added eight kills, five blocks, and two digs. Kayla Baer recorded a match-high 48 assists along with eight digs, six kills, and four blocks.

Central Missouri started strong by winning the first set following an 8-2 run that included five kills from Blake. In the second set, after leading by one point at 11-10, the Jennies went on another run initiated by a kill from Ziesman and capped by Baer’s kill.

After dropping the third set to Pittsburg State, Central Missouri responded in the fourth set with a decisive 6-1 run after holding a narrow lead at 16-15. This effort resulted in their sixth consecutive win and improved their season record to 13-3 overall and 5-1 in conference play.

Three players—Kaelyn McDonald (12 kills), Shaye Koski (11 kills), and Emma Siron (nine kills)—joined Blake in posting high kill numbers for Central Missouri. McDonald also led with seven blocks. Siron contributed a career-best 22 digs.

Four Jennies reached double figures in digs during the match. Grace Winkelmann had a match-high of 31 digs; she now has collected 1,685 career digs and is nine away from tying for fourth-most in program history.

Defensive specialist Brenna Kelly had 13 digs while freshman Ragin Corwin added ten.

The Jennies will continue conference play against Newman University on Saturday, October 11. The match will be held at Dr. Peggy Martin Court inside Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg as part of Mental Health Awareness Night.
