Jennies soccer defeats Rogers State with five-goal shutout

The University of Central Missouri Jennies Soccer team, ranked tenth nationally, secured a 5-0 victory over Rogers State University Hillcats in an MIAA match on Sunday at Soldier Field in Claremore, Oklahoma.

With this win, the Jennies improve their record to 4-2-2 overall and 1-0-1 in conference play. The team will return home to Warrensburg for a four-match homestand at the South Recreation Complex, starting with a game against Fort Hays State on Friday, October 3.

Central Missouri opened the scoring in the 33rd minute when Coryn Jespersen scored her first goal of the season with an assist from Alexandra Hofbauer. Ryann Clark extended the lead to 2-0 with her second goal of the year from a penalty kick in the 40th minute.

In the second half, Patsy O'Brien added another goal in the 66th minute after receiving an assist from Kate Ricker. Maryn Clement scored her first goal of the season in the 71st minute with another assist from Hofbauer, making it 4-0. Clement then scored again in the 89th minute on a pass from Hannah Borgstadt to complete the scoring.

Central Missouri outshot Rogers State by a margin of 23-8 and held a significant advantage in shots on goal at 16-1.

Goalkeeper Kristen Wright earned her fourth win of the season for Central Missouri by playing just over 75 minutes without conceding a goal and making one save. Hannah McFarlane finished out the final 15 minutes and also kept Rogers State scoreless. For Rogers State, goalkeeper Calais Butts allowed five goals but made nine saves during her time on the field.
