Donovyn Omolo led the University of Central Missouri Mules Football Team to a decisive 62-10 win over the Missouri Southern Lions during UCM Family Weekend at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field. Omolo threw for 295 yards and contributed both a passing and rushing touchdown. Latravious Boyd added 114 rushing yards on nine carries, scoring two touchdowns.

The Mules improved their record to 2-2 overall and 2-0 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA). Their next game is scheduled against No. 15 Central Oklahoma on October 4 in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Central Missouri took an early lead when Omolo scored on a 32-yard run in the first quarter. The team then outscored Missouri Southern 35-7 in the second quarter, establishing control of the game. Keyon Butler opened the second-quarter scoring with a one-yard touchdown run. Boyd followed with two consecutive rushing touchdowns—a 63-yard run and a 15-yard run—expanding UCM's advantage.

Marlon Lindsey, Jr., caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Omolo before Trey Patrick intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown just before halftime. This was Central Missouri's first defensive touchdown since last season at Emporia State, giving them a commanding 42-7 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Central Missouri continued to add points while limiting Missouri Southern to only three more points. Omolo completed 31 of his 42 passes for one passing touchdown and added another score on the ground. Jayden Lang rushed for a career-high 67 yards, LaAngelo Bell had 63 yards on the ground, and Butler finished with two touchdowns among his offensive contributions.

Defensively, Trey Patrick had two interceptions, Izziek Chandler recorded another interception, Garrett Hormann made eight tackles including a sack and forced fumble, while Max Toia recovered a fumble.

Central Missouri gained a total of 620 yards compared to Missouri Southern’s 277 yards. The Mules also held advantages in both rushing (325-116) and passing (295-161) yardage categories, achieved more first downs (41 versus MSSU’s 20), and controlled possession time by nearly fourteen minutes.

The team's total offense output was its highest since last season’s game against Missouri Southern when they amassed 781 yards. Their rushing total was also their best since posting 370 yards against Lincoln in 2023.

Missouri Southern’s Tillman Martin completed ten of twenty-four passes for 125 yards with one touchdown.

"Trey Patrick provided the exclamation point in the second quarter, intercepting a Lion pass and returning it thirty yards to the house just before halftime for Central Missouri's first defensive touchdown since last season at Emporia State," according to information from Central Missouri Athletics.
