Central Missouri Jennies volleyball sweeps Fort Hays State Tigers in conference matchup

Central Missouri Jennies volleyball secured a straight-set victory over Fort Hays State Tigers on Saturday, September 27, at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays. The Jennies improved their record to 8-3 overall and 1-1 in the MIAA conference, while the Tigers moved to 12-2 overall and also hold a 1-1 conference record.

The match began with Central Missouri taking an early lead, starting on a 7-2 run. Emma Siron from Sedalia, Missouri contributed two kills during this stretch and finished the match with eight kills and seven digs. The Jennies won the first set 25-20.

In the second set, Central Missouri again prevailed by a score of 25-20. Middle blocker Kaelyn McDonald led with four kills in this set and totaled a match-high of 11 kills on 18 attempts for a .444 hitting percentage, along with three digs and two blocks. Shaye Koski from Parkville, Missouri also had four kills in the second set and matched McDonald’s total of 11 kills for the match.

Emma Siron opened the third set with a service ace as Central Missouri maintained control throughout, securing their eighth win of the season—six of which have come via sweep. Senior Rachel Ziesman recorded double-digit kills as well, finishing with 11 on 20 swings for a .400 hitting percentage and adding three blocks.

Kayla Baer from Wesley Chapel, Florida tallied a match-best 45 assists along with six digs. Libero Grace Winkelmann led defensively with a match-high twelve digs; she also added two service aces and two assists.

Grace Wagers from Stilwell, Kansas contributed seven kills on thirteen attempts (.462 attack percentage) plus two blocks. Defensive specialist Ragin Corwin notched seven digs while sophomore Brenna Kelly added four more.

Overall, Central Missouri out-hit Fort Hays State by .348 to .207 across all sets.

Looking ahead, Central Missouri will host Rockhurst Hawks (8-4 overall) on Tuesday, September 30 at Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg for Ronald McDonald House Charity Night. The first serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
