Central Missouri Jennies fall to No.4 Nebraska Kearney Lopers in four-set road loss

Central Missouri Jennies volleyball team was defeated by No. 4 Nebraska Kearney Lopers in a four-set match on Friday, September 26, at the Health & Sports Center in Kearney, Nebraska. The final score was 3-1 (18-25, 19-25, 25-21, 20-25), dropping the Jennies to a record of 7-3 overall and 0-1 in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) play.

Central Missouri started strong with an early lead in the first set but could not maintain momentum as Nebraska Kearney went on a significant run to take the set. In the second set, after being tied at 15 points each, Nebraska Kearney pulled ahead with a six-point run to secure another win.

The Jennies responded in the third set by building an early advantage and holding off their opponent for a 25-21 victory. Emma Siron led Central Missouri with a match-high of 17 kills along with 14 digs and two blocks. "Siron ended the night with a match-high 17 kills, adding 14 digs and two blocks for good measure," according to the team's report.

In the fourth set, both teams were tied at 20 before Nebraska Kearney finished on a five-point streak to close out the match.

Shaye Koski contributed double-digit kills for Central Missouri with ten and added five digs. Rachel Ziesman recorded eight kills and six blocks. Defensively, libero Grace Winkelmann led all players with 21 digs and moved into tenth place all-time in career digs at Central Missouri with a total of 1,563.

Kaelyn McDonald registered seven blocks—two solo—and four kills. Setter Kayla Baer provided a team-best of 36 assists alongside eight digs and two blocks. Freshman Ragin Corwin had six digs while Brenna Kelly added four more from her defensive specialist position.

Central Missouri will continue MIAA competition against Fort Hays State Tigers on Saturday, September 27 at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays, Kansas.
