Cade Chiles, a certified physician assistant, has joined Bothwell Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. He is now seeing patients in the clinic and assisting with surgeries.

Chiles, who grew up in Warsaw, earned his bachelor’s degree in Health Science from the University of Missouri in Columbia. He recently completed a master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies at South University in Royal Palm Beach, Florida.

Chiles explained his motivation for choosing the physician assistant profession: “Throughout my time in PA school, I was able to explore different specialties, which ultimately grew my passion for a career in orthopedics,” he said. “The profession also allows me to work closely with physicians and other health care providers in a team environment, which is how I believe the best patient care happens.”

At Bothwell Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, Chiles divides his time between working with patients in the clinic and assisting surgeons during operations for orthopedic injuries and conditions. He noted his particular interest but broad focus: “While I have a particular interest in hip and knee pathology, I enjoy the variety of orthopedics and will be treating conditions involving all areas of the body,” he said.

Marvin Smoot, vice president of Clinic Operations at Bothwell Regional Health Center, commented on Chiles’ addition to the team: “Cade is a great addition to our orthopedic team,” he said. “He’s committed to whole-patient care and understands the impact that timely, expert treatment can have on a person’s mobility and quality of life. We’re excited to welcome him back to the area.”

Chiles also spoke about his connection to rural health care: “I was especially drawn to Bothwell because of the welcoming culture and the chance to serve a rural community,” he said. “I believe in caring for the whole patient, not just the injury. That includes treatment, education and prevention to help people recover fully and reduce future problems.”

Chiles joins Dr. Kelly Edwards, Dr. Douglas Kiburz, Dr. Evan Stout, and Physician Assistant Lindsey Edwards at Bothwell Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. The clinic is located on the third floor of the Healing Arts Center.
