University of Central Missouri Jennies Soccer players Mikayla Ernst and Kristen Wright have received weekly honors from the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) for their performances during the week of September 8-14, according to an announcement from the conference office on Tuesday.
Ernst, a junior forward from Raymore, Missouri, was named MIAA Offensive Athlete of the Week. She scored two goals and recorded an assist for a total of five points over the week. In Central Missouri's 2-0 win against No. 12 Ashland on Friday, September 12, Ernst scored both goals, including the game-winner in the 26th minute and another in the 64th minute. She also assisted Aspen Patterson’s goal in the third minute during Sunday’s match at No. 4 Grand Valley State.
Kristen Wright, a junior goalkeeper from Lenexa, Kansas, was selected as Goalkeeper of the Week. Wright posted a 1-1 record in goal for Central Missouri and earned her second shutout of the season during the victory over Ashland. Over two matches, she made a total of 12 saves—six each against Ashland and Grand Valley State—and allowed two goals across 180 minutes for a goals-against average of 1.00.
The Jennies are currently ranked No. 17 nationally and will play their home opener against Ouachita Baptist at South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg on Friday, September 19 at 6 p.m.
