The Bothwell Foundation is organizing a public forum aimed at informing the community about the financial state of Bothwell Regional Health Center and efforts to maintain local health care services. The event, titled "Bothwell & the Bottom Line: What It Takes to Keep Care Local," will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 5:30 pm at the Heckart Community Center in Sedalia.
The forum is sponsored by the foundation’s Community Relations committee and will address current financial challenges facing Bothwell Regional Health Center as well as recent developments affecting its operations. Presenters include Lori Wightman, CEO of Bothwell; Marvin Smoot, vice president of Clinic Operations; and Eric Jones from Ovation Healthcare, which serves as Bothwell’s consulting and financial partner. Wightman is expected to discuss issues related to health care finance and reimbursement. Smoot will talk about the importance of Bothwell’s clinics in providing local care, while Jones will address broader challenges for rural health systems.
Diana Nichols, chair of the Community Relations committee, said, “We know people have questions, and this forum is a chance to offer clear information and listen to concerns. Keeping care local is a shared goal, and it starts with understanding the challenges and working together.”
The event is open to all members of the public without registration required. Light refreshments will be available. For further details, interested individuals can contact Lauren Thiel-Payne, executive director of the Bothwell Foundation.
