Central Missouri Mules football ranked No.22 in AFCA Division II preseason poll

The University of Central Missouri Mules football team has been ranked 22nd in the 2025 American Football Coaches' Association (AFCA) Division II Preseason Poll, released on August 11 from Waco, Texas.

The Mules earned a total of 149 points in the poll. The team returns 11 starters from last season's Heritage Bowl Championship squad, which finished with a 9-3 overall record and tied for third place in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) at 6-3.

Returning players include 2024 All-MIAA selections Jack Pospisil (wide receiver), LaAngelo Bell (running back), Hogan Wasson (wide receiver), and Austin Bressler (linebacker).

Ferris State University in Michigan, last year’s national champion, leads the preseason poll with 773 points and received 30 first-place votes. Other teams from the MIAA featured in the rankings are Central Oklahoma at number five and Pittsburg State at number nine.

Central Missouri is set to open its season on Thursday, August 28, at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi. The home opener is scheduled for Thursday, September 11, at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field in Warrensburg against Colorado State-Pueblo, which holds the sixth spot in the preseason poll.
