For the eighth consecutive year, Bothwell Regional Health Center and Bothwell Peak Sport & Spine will provide a free Saturday Sports Injury Clinic for student-athletes. The clinic will begin on August 30 and continue through November 1.
Dr. Evan Stout, an orthopedic surgeon with Bothwell Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, and Dr. Dalton Lohsandt, a family and sports medicine physician at Bothwell Family Medicine, will evaluate athletes and offer care recommendations.
According to the announcement, “One of three Bothwell Peak athletic trainers from Smith-Cotton, Cole Camp and State Fair Community College will rotate Saturdays and assist the two physicians. While the team mostly sees football players, the clinic is for any high school or college athlete with a serious but non-emergency orthopedic injury.”
The clinic will operate each Saturday from 9 to 10 am at Bothwell Peak Sport & Spine, located at 3222 W. 16th St. in Sedalia. No appointment is required; students are seen on a first-come, first-served basis. Students under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. If additional medical attention is needed beyond what can be provided at the clinic, arrangements will be made to connect families with appropriate health care providers.
“In addition to seeing athletes for injuries in the clinic,” states the release, “Drs. Stout and Lohsandt will cover the sidelines at Smith-Cotton High School, Cole Camp High School and Warsaw High School football games and work closely with trainers and coaches to help keep players safe when injuries occur.”
