High school students with aspirations in healthcare will have a chance to explore the field through Western Missouri Medical Center's (WMMC) 2025 Exploring Careers in Healthcare Opportunities (ECHO) Camp. This year, due to its popularity, two sessions are planned for June 9-13 and July 28-August 1, each running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The camp offers participants an inside look at the medical profession via job shadowing, hands-on activities, and interactive demonstrations led by WMMC professionals. Students will visit various hospital departments such as the emergency department, obstetrics, diagnostic imaging, and laboratory.

Eligible applicants include current high school students and May 2025 graduates. To apply, candidates must complete an online application available at wmmc.com/ECHO. The application requires a letter of recommendation from a non-relative adult and a one-page essay detailing their interest in healthcare and objectives for attending the camp.

Applications open on April 1, with limited spaces encouraging early submission before the April 12 deadline. The $40 camp fee covers an ECHO Camp T-shirt, WMMC swag bag, and daily lunch.

For further details on ECHO Camp or scholarship opportunities, interested individuals can contact Cyndi Fleming, Student Experiences Coordinator, at cfleming@wmmc.com or visit wmmc.com/ECHO.
