83 percent of applicants to the University of Iowa were admitted for fall 2018

At the University of Iowa, 92 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 53 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Iowa City enrolled 31,656 students in fall 2018, including 23,989 in undergraduate and 7,667 in graduate programs, data shows. 4.7 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

58 percent of undergraduates are residents of Iowa, and 38 percent are residents of other states. 4 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (72 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (8 percent).

The school admitted 83 percent of the 26,706 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 22 percent enrolled.
