The team is second in scoring within the conference at an average of 31.7 points per game.
Individually, wide receiver Hogan Wasson leads all NCAA Division II players with an average of 109.1 receiving yards per game and ranks second nationally with nearly nine receptions per contest. In addition to player achievements on the field this year—including weekly honors earned by Jack Pospisil (Offensive Athlete of the Week on September 15), Jordan Pachot (September 22), and Donovyn Omolo (October 6)—the program welcomed fifty-eight new student-athletes ahead of this season along with seven new coaches: Rich Wright as defensive coordinator/defensive line coach; Neil Novak as special teams coordinator/defensive backs coach; Vince Mayle as wide receivers coach; Jamal Morrow overseeing running backs/offensive player personnel; Dylan Graham handling tight ends/offensive player personnel; JaQuan Jenkins assisting defensive secondary duties; Billy Musgrave assisting defensive line coaching responsibilities.
Central Missouri’s football history spans back to its founding year of play in 1895, missing only one season due to World War I—in 1918. Over that time span—now totaling 129 seasons—the program has achieved more than six hundred victories (608-544-51 record), won or shared fourteen conference championships—the most recent coming last year—and reached postseason play thirteen times including five NCAA-II playoff appearances.
Recent years have seen notable success: after going 9-3 last season following an 11-win campaign in 2023, Central Missouri posted consecutive twenty-win totals across two seasons—a feat accomplished only once before by the program.
The team maintains a scoring streak spanning 360 straight games, setting an MIAA record dating back to week three of 1991.
Several former Mules continue playing professionally: Zach Zebrowski and Arkell Smith are active members of Canada’s Edmonton Elks football club while David Olajiga currently appears on the New England Patriots’ practice squad roster. Zach Davidson was selected by Minnesota Vikings during round five of NFL’s 2021 draft. To date eighty-one alumni have either been drafted or signed professional contracts.
