The University of Central Missouri Mules Football team lost their annual Homecoming Game to Emporia State University, with a final score of 31-27 on Saturday at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Central Missouri held a 27-17 lead entering the fourth quarter, but Emporia State responded by scoring 14 unanswered points to secure the win. The loss brings the Mules’ record to 3-5 overall and 3-3 in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) play. Emporia State now stands at 4-4 overall and also holds a 3-3 conference record.

UCM quarterback Donovyn Omolo completed 20 out of 44 passes for a total of 208 yards. He threw a three-yard touchdown pass to Marlon Lindsey Jr., rushed for a team-high 77 yards on eleven carries, and scored on a one-yard run. Hogan Wasson led the Mules’ receivers with seven catches for eighty-one yards.

On defense, Garrett Hormann recorded sixteen tackles while Drew Kaufman contributed thirteen tackles. Michael Harris made eight tackles, including one-and-a-half tackles-for-loss totaling ten yards and registered a ten-yard quarterback sack. Malachi Howard had three pass breakups during the game.

Emporia State finished with more total offense than Central Missouri, gaining 445 yards compared to UCM’s 388. The Hornets passed for two hundred eighty-eight yards while the Mules managed two hundred nineteen passing yards; however, Central Missouri outrushed Emporia State by twelve yards.

Jamison Sarver led Emporia State as quarterback by completing twenty-five out of forty-one passes for two hundred eighty-eight yards and throwing two touchdowns.

Central Missouri will next face Fort Hays State Tigers in Hays, Kansas on Saturday, November first at one p.m.
