Central Missouri cross country teams earn top finishes at Brian T. Simpson Invitational

The University of Central Missouri’s cross country teams participated in the Brian T. Simpson Invitational at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course, hosted by the University of Missouri-Columbia on Saturday, October 11.

The Mules secured a second-place team finish with 77 points. Five runners from the men's team placed in the top 20 of the 8k race. Sophomore Jaise Bardwell finished third with a time of 26:19.71, and Alejandro Malave, from Waynesville, Missouri, took seventh place with a time of 26:45.85. Junior Kollin Tidman placed twelfth in 26:54.04, Colby Adams finished eighteenth at 27:08.23, and junior Sam Mathis rounded out the scoring for Central Missouri in forty-second place with a time of 27:53.94.

On the women’s side, the Jennies took fifth place as a team, scoring 145 points. Freshman Marianna Bizon won the individual title in the 5k event with a time of 18:50.29. Fellow freshman Madison Cross achieved a personal best and finished twenty-sixth at 20:13.08. Kenzleigh Goans from California, Missouri, finished thirty-fifth with a time of 20:42.9; Daniella Gonzalez placed fifty-fourth at 21:24.16; and Kayli Cameron was sixty-seventh at 21:58.8.

Central Missouri Cross Country will compete next at the MIAA Championships on Saturday, October 25, starting at 9:30 a.m., held at Four Oaks Golf Course in Pittsburg, Kansas.
