Central Missouri Jennies Soccer defeats Fort Hays State Tigers with strong offensive showing

The University of Central Missouri Jennies Soccer team, ranked No. 10 nationally, defeated Fort Hays State Tigers 4-0 at the South Recreation Complex on Friday, October 3. The match was part of Soctober, an event presented by Central Bank.

Mikayla Ernst opened the scoring three minutes into the game with her tenth goal of the season, receiving a pass from Patsy O'Brien. The score remained 1-0 until early in the second half when the Jennies added two quick goals in the 49th minute. O'Brien scored her second goal of the season with assists from Ernst and Izzy Joyce. Shortly after, Joyce netted her third goal of 2025 with another assist from Ernst.

Coryn Jespersen increased Central Missouri's lead to 4-0 in the 54th minute after finishing a pass from Ernst for her third goal this season. Ernst finished the night with one goal and a career-high three assists.

The Jennies outshot Fort Hays State by a margin of 22-5 and held a 14-1 advantage in shots on target. They also led in corner kicks, recording five compared to Fort Hays State's two.

Goalkeeper Kristen Wright secured her fifth win of the season for Central Missouri without conceding a goal during nearly 66 minutes played. She combined efforts with Hannah McFarlane and Hayleigh Martin for their second shared shutout this year.

Fort Hays State’s goalkeeper Hadley Ostrander allowed four goals and made seven saves over 66 minutes before being substituted.

Central Missouri will next face Nebraska Kearney Lopers at home on Sunday, October 5.
