The University of Central Missouri men's golf team is in second place after the first day of the Northeastern State Men's Golf Classic, held at Page Belcher Golf Club in Tulsa on September 15. The Mules recorded a team score of 553 (274, 276), finishing 15-under par. Central Oklahoma leads the tournament with a score of 550 (274, 276) for 18-under par.
CJ Phillips, from Oklahoma, finished the day in seventh place after scoring an eagle on the first hole during his opening round. Phillips ended with a total score of 136 for six-under par (68, 68). Martin Hurtado from Southern Arkansas is currently leading with a score of 132 (68-64).
Nick Fallin and Kale Flinton are tied for sixteenth place with scores of 139 (-3). Fallin shot three-under par (68) in the first round and made par (71) in the second round. Flinton posted a first-round score of 67 and followed it up with a second-round score of 72 to finish three-under par.
Jack Hope, competing as an individual, is tied for twenty-sixth at two-under par (69,72). Brooks Baldwin sits tied for forty-third with a total score of 143 (73,70), which puts him one-over par. Sophomore Archer Schnieders is tied for sixty-first at three-over par with scores of 69 and 76.
The Central Missouri Mules will continue their participation on September 16 in Tulsa for Day Two of the NSU Classic.
