The University of Central Missouri (UCM) Board of Governors has entered into a contract with Musco Lighting to install new LED lights at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field. This decision was announced by UCM Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics, Matt Howdeshell, on July 7.
The board approved the contract during its June 2025 meeting. The installation is set to be completed before Mules Football's first home game against Colorado State-Pueblo on September 11 at 7 p.m.
"We are committed to providing our student-athletes and fans with the best game day experience possible," said Howdeshell. "This state-of-the-art lighting will make Walton Stadium an even more electric atmosphere."
The new lighting system will replace the current stadium lights, which have been in place since June 1995. The upgrade aims to enhance the student engagement on campus and improve the overall experience for student-athletes. Additionally, the LED lights are expected to be more energy-efficient and cost-effective while improving safety by better illuminating walking areas.
Musco Director of Key Accounts Vaughn Blythe expressed satisfaction with UCM's efforts: "We've been impressed by the dedication at Central Missouri to create the best possible environment and experience at Walton Stadium."
