Warrensburg, MO — Dr. Magdy Giurgius, who specializes in general, minimally invasive, and bariatric surgery, has joined the surgical team at Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC). He will perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including capsule endoscopy, expanding the hospital's surgical offerings, specifically with comprehensive bariatric procedures.
Dr. Giurgius completed his general surgery residency at the University of Kentucky and his fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at the University of Missouri. He holds certification from both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Obesity Medicine. His clinical interests extend to advanced endoscopic techniques and wound care.
In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Giurgius is actively engaged in advocacy for patients and communities. He has taken on leadership roles with the Missouri Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, and he was president of the Missouri Chapter of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). He also served as a Star of the Arkansas/Oklahoma Chapter of ASMBS and is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). Furthermore, he has contributed to the American Cancer Society’s Regional Leadership Board.
Dr. Giurgius balances his professional commitments by spending time with his family, alongside activities such as traveling, swimming, and horseback riding.
