Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare (GVMH) has announced that Kimberly Jones, a surgeon at the facility, has achieved board certification with the American Board of Surgery in general surgery. This certification process requires the completion of an accredited residency program, passage of both the General Surgery Qualifying Exam and the General Surgery Certifying Exam, and a commitment to ongoing education and high-quality patient care.

Board certification, although voluntary, involves a challenging exam designed to assess a physician's proficiency in performing various operations and procedures. General surgery encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, including the preoperative, operative, and post-operative management of patients with diverse conditions, necessitating either nonoperative, elective, or emergency surgical interventions.

Dr. Jones holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from Saba University School of Medicine in the Caribbean Netherlands and completed her general surgery residency at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. Her academic background also includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.

Expressing appreciation for Dr. Jones' achievement, Molly Teichman, Chief Operating Officer at GVMH, stated, "We appreciate Dr. Jones’ dedication to go above and beyond to complete this certification and her commitment to providing the highest quality care."
