The University of Central Missouri Jennies Bowling team began the Virginia Union University Invitational with a strong performance, winning all five matches on the first day of competition at Bowl America in Midlothian, Virginia.

On Friday, the Jennies secured victories over Howard University (940-815), Fayetteville State (828-813), Virginia State (830-637), Morgan State (892-870), and Florida A&M (783-741). These results placed Central Missouri in first position after the Baker Total Pinfall pool play.

Cynthia Phillips led the team with a 17.19 Baker Frame Average, while Giana Nichols contributed a 17.07 frame average during the opening day.

The tournament will continue on Saturday, Nov. 1, as the Jennies aim to maintain their lead in Midlothian.
