The University of Central Missouri Mules Football team lost to the Washburn Ichabods, 37-17, in a Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) matchup on Saturday at Yager Stadium at Moore Bowl in Topeka, Kansas. The Mules, now holding a 3-4 overall record and 3-2 in conference play, struggled with ball security throughout the game, committing eight turnovers—six interceptions and two fumbles.
Despite outgaining Washburn both in total yards (465 to 370), passing yards (269 to 231), and rushing yards (196 to 139), Central Missouri was unable to capitalize due to its turnovers. Quarterback Donovyn Omolo completed 25 of 32 passes for 217 yards and one touchdown. Mac Harper also contributed at quarterback, going 8-of-13 for 52 yards.
Latravious Boyd led the ground attack with 80 rushing yards on 14 carries. Keyon Butler added another touchdown with his 60 rushing yards on ten attempts. Jake Weber caught eight passes for a total of 60 receiving yards, while Bo Reeves contributed a touchdown reception among his two catches.
On defense, Izziek Chandler and Garrett Hormann each recorded six tackles. Joe Morrison forced a fumble during the contest.
Washburn’s quarterback Logan Madden threw for two touchdowns and totaled 231 passing yards as he helped lead his team to victory.
Central Missouri will look to recover from this loss when it hosts Emporia State in its annual Homecoming Game on Saturday, Oct. 25 at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field in Warrensburg.
