Bothwell Regional Health Center recently celebrated the recognition of two of its staff members by the Missouri Hospital Association (MHA). Eric Rader and the Population Health team were honored with the 2025 Champions of Care awards for their outstanding contributions to healthcare.

Eric Rader, part of Bothwell’s Facilities Management team, demonstrated that patient care extends beyond medical treatment. During severe winter weather, Rader ensured hospital operations continued smoothly by clearing parking lots and salting walkways, allowing safe access for staff, patients, and visitors. Jon D. Doolittle, MHA President and CEO, commended Rader's dedication: “Beyond that fundamental goal, Eric brings joy, smiles and safety to the people served by Bothwell,” he said. “I am very proud to recognize him as an MHA Champion of Care, and I know that his story will inspire others.”

The Population Health team at Bothwell is led by Leslie Harris and focuses on addressing healthcare gaps before they become critical issues. As a pilot site for Missouri’s Transformation of Rural Community Health (ToRCH) initiative, the team works with Medicaid patients to facilitate preventive care and reduce unnecessary emergency room visits. Their efforts include arranging transportation and securing appointments to improve health outcomes.

Doolittle acknowledged the significant impact of their work in ensuring timely and effective patient care.
