Rick Fosnow, incumbent member of the Henry County Commission, is seeking the Republican nomination for re-election to his seat representing the North District for a four-year term. The primary election will be held on August 6.

Per a sample ballot, Fosnow is running for re-election in the GOP primary against Mark Larson.

Fosnow graduated from Windsor High School in 1970 and worked for Peabody Coal Company at the Tebo Mine. He was subsequently placed at the Montrose Mine, serving as president of the Local 1122. He retired from Local 1122 when the mine closed and worked at Hayes Wheels in Sedalia before opening Rick's Tire Service in Windsor in 1922. Fosnow and his wife Diane also owned and operated The Wagon Wheel Cafe in Windsor, in a May 2016 announcing his initial candidacy for the Henry County Commission.

Previously, Fosnow served in various positions in Henry County, including chairman for Henry County Senior Citizens Tax board, Calhoun Community betterment Group, and Nominating Committee for the Windsor Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member of the Henry County Cattlemen’s Association, Windsor Masonic Lodge #29, Windsor Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge #187, and Windsor Area Chamber of Commerce and National Rifle Association.

Fosnow has said he supports personal property rights, senior citizens' rights, and hunting and fishing rights. He also highlights his commitment to fiscal responsibility on his campaign's Facebook page.

In a press release, R.E.D. PAC — a political action committee focused on rural economic development — endorsed Fosnow as a candidate who has "demonstrated unwavering dedication to the principles that foster economic stability, enhance transparency in government, and protect private property rights from excessive regulation" and as an advocate "for sensible solutions to local and national challenges, emphasizing the importance of strong community leadership in achieving long-term success."

R.E.D. PAC Chief Strategist Charlie Kolean also endorsed Fosnow, saying he was a person who would "stand firm on issues critical to our freedoms and economic wellbeing."

According to the Henry County Commission's website, the Commission comprises three members: one presiding commissioner, who is elected by voters across the County, and two associate commissioners, who are elected by voters in their respective township districts. Commissioners are elected to four-year terms.

Per the Commission's website, the Henry County Commission's responsibilities include approving the annual budget, appoints county board members, approving bills, payroll, and grants brought before the commission, overseeing the Henry County Bridge Department.
