The No. 36 Jennies golf team is in first place after the opening round of the Midwest Intercollegiate Invitational at Silo Ridge Golf Club in Bolivar, Mo., according to a March 17 update. The team finished the day at 25-over par, with freshman Ansley Giesselman leading by carding a 75 for 3-over par.
This performance puts the Jennies ahead of Northwest Missouri State, which sits in second place at 35-over par, and Northeastern State in third with a score of 43-over par. The standings reflect a strong start for Central Missouri as they take the top spot after the first 18 holes.
Giesselman’s effort was followed by Libby Green, who shot a 78 for 6-over par and holds sixth place individually. Addison Davis is tied for seventh after scoring a 79 for 7-over par. Kiki Bruner is currently tied for tenth with an 81, while Hannah Mottert rounds out the team’s scores, tying for fifteenth with an 82.
Two Jennies golfers are competing individually: Reece Nimmo is tied for twenty-eighth after shooting an 86 (14-over par), and Olivia Thetford is tied for thirty-fifth with an opening round score of 89 (17-over par).
The final round of the invitational will be played on Wednesday, March 18 at Silo Ridge Golf Club.
