Fitzgibbon Hospital Foundation will hold its annual fundraising event, the Fling Casino Night, on Friday, April 10 at the Jackson Event Center in Marshall. The decision to repeat last year’s casino-themed fundraiser comes after positive feedback from attendees.

The event is designed to raise funds for new or renewed furniture in the hospital’s lobbies and waiting areas. These areas have experienced increased wear due to enhanced cleaning protocols during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Last year was so much fun. And we heard that feedback from so many of our supporters,” said Andrea Barr, Foundation Director at Fitzgibbon Hospital. “We are bringing in a company out of Kansas City that will lead professionally-run casino-style games from 6 to 9 p.m. People will be able to play the games of their choice and then, at the end of the evening, trade in their play money for raffle tickets to win awesome prizes. We will have six to eight larger prizes at the end of the night. That will take the place of our live auction.”

In addition to casino games, guests can expect hors d’oeuvres and desserts throughout the evening. The silent auction opens on March 31 and allows participants to bid remotely before attending. Early registration is available by scanning a QR code on invitations or visiting the Fitzgibbon Hospital Foundation Facebook page.

The event also features a Wine and Whiskey Grab, where participants pay a fee for a guaranteed bottle valued above their entry cost. Another addition this year is a 50-50 raffle.

“We’re also adding a 50-50 raffle this year. People will be able to buy tickets and, at the end of the night, a winner will be drawn and they will receive half the pot of whatever we raise during the raffle,” said Barr.

Tickets are priced at $100 each and can be purchased by contacting Andrea Barr at (660) 831-3850 or through the foundation’s Facebook page. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and concludes at 9 p.m.
