The University of Central Missouri women’s golf team is tied for first place after the opening round of the MIAA Women’s Golf Championship, according to an April 20 announcement. The event is being hosted by the Jennies at Mules National Golf Club.

This result puts Central Missouri in a strong position as they aim for the championship title. Sharing the lead with University of Nebraska Kearney, both teams posted a score of 26-over 306 on day one.

Freshman Hannah Mottert led the Jennies with a 4-over 74, which included two birdies on the back nine and places her in a three-way tie for second individually. Kiki Bruner also contributed significantly, shooting a 6-over 76 to tie for sixth place. Ansley Giesselmann and Libby Green each finished with an 8-over 78, tying them for eighteenth, while Addy Davis posted an 11-over 81 to sit in thirty-seventh place.

Central Oklahoma is close behind in third place after carding a team total of 28-over par. The competition remains tight as teams prepare for subsequent rounds.

The Jennies will continue play on Tuesday, April 21, with tee times starting at 9:20 a.m. at Mules National Golf Club.
