The Central Missouri Jennies softball team won both games of a doubleheader against the Missouri-St. Louis Tritons on April 21, taking victories by scores of 7-5 and 8-2 at UMSL Softball Field in St. Louis.
These wins improve the Jennies’ record to 31-15 overall and 12-8 in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play, while the Tritons fall to an even record of 21-21 overall and 14-6 in Great Lakes Valley Conference competition.
In the first game, Central Missouri built an early lead with a run-scoring single from Bailey Brumley and a two-run home run by Aly Hageman in the opening inning. The team added three more runs in the second inning, highlighted by another RBI from Brumley and a single from Taylor Thompson. Although Missouri-St. Louis narrowed the gap later in the game, Hageman’s third RBI helped secure the win for Central Missouri. Brumley earned her tenth victory as pitcher, striking out seven batters—a personal best—and Andi Siebeneck closed out with her second save.
The second game saw Thompson hit her sixteenth home run of the season to give Central Missouri an early advantage. The team extended its lead with five runs in the second inning through contributions from Jadyn Sheffield, Kyrsten Moran, and Brumley. Hageman added another RBI late in the game before UMSL scored twice in their final at-bat. Siebeneck picked up her twelfth pitching win after allowing two runs over seven innings.
The Jennies will continue conference play on Saturday, April 25, facing Nebraska-Kearney during Senior Day at Jennies Field at South Recreation Complex.
