The Cedar County Assessor’s Office announced on Mar. 16 that it is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable individual to fill the role of office clerk. The position is responsible for assisting residents with personal property assessments and supporting daily operations within the office.

The job opening matters to local residents as the office clerk will serve as a key point of contact for those needing help with assessment forms, real estate transactions, and general inquiries about county procedures.

According to the announcement, responsibilities include processing personal property listings, maintaining accurate records, reviewing real estate transaction deeds, and providing customer service both in person and through other communication channels. The office clerk will also verify ownership information for various types of taxable property such as vehicles and boats, prepare correspondence, assist with real estate transfers, and perform general office duties like filing and document management.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. The position requires strong attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, excellent customer service skills, proficiency with computers and basic office equipment, and the ability to learn Missouri’s personal property assessment laws. Prior experience in an office or legal setting is preferred but not required.

The full-time role follows a Monday through Friday schedule in a professional environment with regular public interaction. Salary and benefits are determined by county policy based on experience. There is also a 90-day probation period for new hires.
